The best time to schedule your maternity session is typically between 28–34 weeks, when your beautiful baby bump is showing but you're still comfortable enough to enjoy your session. I recommend booking during your second trimester so we have plenty of time to plan your date, location, and wardrobe—especially if you're hoping for an outdoor Arizona session. Already further along? For outdoor maternity sessions, the best time of day is usually during golden hour, shortly before sunset, when the light is soft, warm, and beautifully flattering. Here in Arizona, timing is especially important—we want that gorgeous desert glow without having you standing in the harsh midday sun and heat. Your comfort always comes first, so we'll choose a session time based on the season, weather, location, and how you're feeling to make sure your maternity session is both beautiful and enjoyable.
Studio or outdoor maternity session? Both are beautiful—it really comes down to the look and experience you want. Studio sessions offer a comfortable, private setting with controlled lighting and keep the focus completely on you and your growing baby. Outdoor sessions give us gorgeous Arizona scenery, natural movement, and that dreamy golden-hour glow. Whichever you choose, we'll create a session that feels comfortable, beautiful, and completely you.
Absolutely! Your maternity session is about more than your growing belly—it's about the whole family waiting to meet this little one. Including your partner and children gives us the chance to capture sweet connections, belly kisses, snuggles, laughter, and all the excitement surrounding baby's arrival. We'll still make time for beautiful portraits of just you, but including the people who are already loving this baby makes your maternity story even more meaningful.

Choose something you feel good in, communicate with me about anything you're uncomfortable with, and most importantly—relax and enjoy this season. Location is a big part of creating a beautiful maternity session, which is why I don't advertise all of my favorite spots online. I personally scout my locations, looking at the light, scenery, accessibility, season, and the little details that make a spot photograph beautifully. The last thing I want is to arrive at your session and find a dozen other photographers lined up shooting in the exact same place. Keeping some locations private allows me to give my clients a more peaceful, personal experience and images that don't look like everyone else's. Your maternity session deserves more than a location pulled from someone else's list—it deserves a spot thoughtfully chosen for you.
Maternity photos are worth it even if you don't feel completely camera ready. Pregnancy isn't always glamorous, and you don't have to love every change in your body to appreciate what it's doing. This is the only time you'll carry this baby, and one day these photographs will show your child just how loved and anticipated they were before you ever met. You may be surprised how differently you see these images years from now—not as pictures of how you looked, but as memories of who you were waiting for.
