One of the best parts about planning maternity photos in Arizona is that we have some seriously beautiful scenery to work with.

We may not have green forests everywhere you turn, but we have something completely different:

open desert, mountains, warm earth tones, huge skies and some pretty incredible sunsets.

Desert Locations

There's something especially beautiful about maternity photography in the Arizona desert.

The neutral colors keep the focus on you while still giving your photographs a very recognizable Arizona feeling.

Desert locations can work beautifully with creams, rusts, browns, olives and other earthy wardrobe colors.

Add golden-hour light and suddenly that simple desert becomes something pretty amazing.

Mountain Views

Buckeye and the surrounding West Valley give us access to beautiful mountain scenery.

Mountains can add depth and drama to maternity photographs without taking the attention away from Mom.

If you love the idea of photographs that really feel like Arizona, this can be a gorgeous option.

Open Fields and Natural Areas

Not every Arizona maternity session has to involve cactus.

Depending on the season, open natural areas and fields can give us a softer look.

They also give us room for movement, which is especially helpful when your partner or older children are joining the session.

A beautiful location isn't automatically a good maternity location.

I also consider things like:

How far will Mom need to walk?

Is there somewhere safe and comfortable to stand?

What will the light look like at our session time?

Will the location work for young children if they're coming?

What will the temperature be?

The prettiest location in Arizona isn't worth much if you're eight months pregnant and have to hike half a mountain to reach it.

Your comfort matters.

The Season Matters Too

Arizona changes throughout the year.

The location that photographs beautifully in February may look completely different in June.

Sunset times change.

Temperatures change.

Vegetation changes.

That's why we'll choose your location based not only on what you like, but also on when your maternity session is actually happening.

Your Outfit and Location Should Work Together

Once we've selected a location, we can make sure your clothing complements it.

That doesn't mean everything has to match the scenery.

We simply don't want your wardrobe and the environment competing with one another.
