Once your little one has finished exploring, eating, squishing, and hopefully somewhat destroying their cake, we move on to the bathtub splash.

And yes, it's exactly as fun as it sounds.

Your baby gets to splash, play, and get cleaned up while I capture all those adorable post-cake expressions.

Those tiny toes.

The wet hair.

The giggles.

The surprised little faces when the water splashes.

And, of course, those frosting-covered cheeks slowly becoming clean again.

Don't Expect Your Baby to Leave Spotless

The bathtub splash helps clean up your little one, but let's be realistic.

This is a cake smash.

We're not performing a professional spa treatment. 😂

Your baby may still have a little frosting hiding somewhere afterward.

That's why I recommend bringing a clean outfit for your baby to change into after the session.

You'll be very glad you did when you aren't driving home with a frosting-covered one-year-old sitting in the car seat.

The Mess Is Actually Part of the Fun

I know some parents worry about how messy the session will get.

But honestly?

The mess is one of the best parts.

Your baby is ONE.

They are supposed to be curious.

They're supposed to grab things.

They're supposed to get messy.

And they're definitely allowed to discover that apparently Mom and Dad have decided today is the day playing with food is acceptable. 😂

What Should You Bring?

You don't need to bring a bathtub or cleaning supplies—that part is handled during the session.

But you'll want to have a few things with you:

• A clean outfit for afterward

• Diapers

• Wipes

• Any normal baby-care essentials

• A favorite comfort item if your baby needs one

• A bag for wet or messy clothes

And that's really it!

What If My Baby Doesn't Like the Bath?

You guessed it…

That's okay, too!

Some babies love splashing.

Some aren't so sure.

Some might need a little time to warm up to the water.

Your baby doesn't have to perform here either.

We'll follow their lead and capture whatever moments they give us.

And if your baby decides the bathtub is absolutely not happening?

We'll roll with it.

Baby's comfort comes first. Always.
